About me

My jewelry is inspired by the magic and the resources our earth yields. For example, most of the copper has been salvaged (always with permission!) or found on the road, poking up from dirt or sand. I keep a shovel in my car now along with wire snips. Inspiration has also come from curbside castoffs and dumpsters (clean ones). My mantra: reduce, reuse, recycle...
Because I use recycled, second-hand, close-outs and natural material, no piece is exactly the same. Each piece is hand-crafted and as unique as its wearer.
What's the difference between sterling silver and silver-filled wire?
Many of my pieces are made with silver-filled wire -- along with the salvaged copper, this helps me keep my prices down. Also, I've found silver-filled wire doesn't tarnish as easily as sterling silver but has the same look and feel. Silver Filled Wire has a layer of .925 (or better) sterling silver mechanically bonded with heat and tremendous pressure to a brass core. It's at least 10% .925 sterilng silver by weight and is hundres of times thicker than silver-plated wire. Which I don't use unless requested.e
Where did your name come from?
Some have asked — what do elves and stones have to do with custom jewelry? Long story short - I've always been fascinated by the little folk — fairies, elves, gnomes. A few years back, my daughter and I made stepping stones out of concrete. As we worked, we imagined fairies and elves dancing across them. When I began selling my necklaces and earrings, I worked, and still do, primarily with gemstones — the name just popped in my mind and stuck.
Certain qualities are attributed to gemstones -- healing, prosperity, and more. There are numerous resources describing these on the internet; here's a short summary.
